Two Victims Named in Brown University Shooting as Law Enforcement Persist in Hunt for Killer.

Two students who died in the recent violent attack on the university campus were honored at the start of the week – while an intensive search for their shooter continued following the release by authorities in Rhode Island of the single suspect of interest in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was remembered as “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, as stated by the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which honored her memory at a ceremony on Sunday.

Cook was second-in-command of Brown’s chapter of College Republicans of America, according to the organization. The White House press secretary also posted condolences online, saying in part: “Words cannot express. Thinking of her kin and peers, above all her mom and dad.”

An International Student

The second fatality was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his initial year at the prestigious university, his family confirmed.

The victim's identification was officially acknowledged by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. He harbored grand aspirations of entering the field of neurosurgery and aiding others,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a online post.

Details of the Attack

Nine more persons were wounded in the weekend shooting in the engineering department of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Authorities said on Sunday evening that a 24-year-man taken into custody in a police operation at a Hampton Inn about 17 miles from the campus earlier in the day was being released.

“There is a killer at large,” said Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

He added, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you have to regroup and pursue a different angle, and that is the current situation over the last 24 hours or so.”

Ongoing Concerns

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, acknowledged: “This will probably generate renewed concern for our city”.

The gunman discharged a weapon inside a lecture hall in the building on Saturday, shooting over four dozen bullets from a 9mm handgun, a law enforcement official informed the news agency.

Police that searched the hotel seized two handguns and magazines when the person of interest was taken into custody, the news agency reported.

Condition of the Injured

Among those wounded, a single scholar was allowed to go home, stated Christina Paxson, Christina Paxson. Seven more were in grave but unchanging health, and one remained in critical care, officials reported on Sunday.

A private school, a private academy in North Carolina, said a recent graduate, Kendall Turner, was one of the critically injured.

Further Tributes

Cook was honored at a religious service in Birmingham on Sunday. A pastor commented, “She was an incredible, grounded, faithful bright light not only in her youth... but at Brown she was a radiant presence in that institution as well.”

The president of College Republicans, Martin Bertao, shared a message from the group. “Ella was known for her bold, brave, and kind heart as she served her chapter and other students,” he said.

Jonathan Henick, Jonathan Henick, said he was “deeply saddened” by the student's death in a message. “We offer our heartfelt sympathies to Mr Umurzokov’s family, friends, and schoolmates and lament the passing of his potential.”

The weekend's murders at Brown, the seventh oldest in the US higher education institution with about over seven thousand undergraduate and postgraduate students, took place amid one of at least 392 shooting incidents reported in the US so far in this year, according to statistics.
